T-Minus 48 Hours and Counting

I got clearance from the Doc this morning and it looks like the surgery is on for Wednesday.  I will be having the first surgery of my life and its a fun one.  Gallbladder surgery.  Laparoscopic thankfully, but I will be down for a few days (5-7 so says the Doc).  SO... Life is good and all is well, just the pain of waiting...

The Cyclone is an original. Coney Island's first roller coaster, it still stands today as one of the oldest still running.

Cluie II

setting in the window of my office, Cluie enjoys her vantage on the world. The ducks and geese on the lake, the squarels and birds in the trees. But mostly she keeps the solar cells on her belly charged.

Home Office

This is my home away from the office. Where the work gets done. Currently one of the projects is family video preserved to digital. All the devices from the 8mm, VHS and HD Cable box are connected to my main computer via a Dazzle capture device. Trying to complete this before the tapes get in worse shape or erased.

Douglas Adams - The Truth is really Stranger then Fiction

"aren't we meant to put our heads in a paper bag or something?

You can if you like.

Will it help?

No, not really.

Ah..., Okay..., Last Orders Please!"

Pentagon to Shoot Down Rogue Satellite (Updated) | Danger Room from Wired.com

This is a Head's Up or Down  situation, depending on where you are when it comes down.  Remember SkyLab's fall into the Indian Ocean?  This is a 2.5 ton chunk of metal full of nasty chemicals falling to earth and now they want to shoot at it.  Bad idea! Although there really isn't a good idea for this.  Sometime on MArch they say and they won't know where its going to fall until it hits the atmosphere.  They we get a 30 minute warning...

Chicken Little was right!!!

Internet Alert: St. Valentine's Day E-Card Carries Storm Worm Virus

If you unexpectedly receive a Valentine's Day e-card, be careful. It may not be from a secret admirer, but instead might contain the Storm Worm virus.

With the holiday approaching, be on the lookout for spam e-mails spreading the Storm Worm malicious software (malware). The e-mail directs the recipient to click on a link to retrieve the electronic greeting card (e-card).

Once the user clicks on the link, malware is downloaded to the Internet-connected device and causes it to become infected and part of the Storm Worm botnet. A botnet is a network of compromised machines under the control of a single user. Botnets are typically set up to facilitate criminal activity such as spam e-mail, identity theft, denial of service attacks, and spreading malware to other machines on the Internet.

The Storm Worm virus has capitalized on various holidays in the last year by sending millions of e-mails advertising an e-card link within the text of the spam e-mail. Valentine's Day has been identified as the next target.

Maybe Snow...?

Once again they are forecasting snow...  All three times before it has be nothing but rain.  There was a frosting of snow, but that lasted all of a half hour before the rain washed it away.  It would be nice if for once they erred in the low side and I got a foot of snow in stead of the forecast few inches...
