High above the world

Dateline: Sat Jan 31, 2004 7:40
inbound To Phili airport, Still High above the ground. Iced over rivers and snow covered ground far below. wondering what it will be like to live up here in the land where this happens a few months of every year. Major snow out the window now, a patchwork of white, broken only by the blackness of the roads. Then a ding, Its time to land, and we are early by 30 minutes. And now the day can begin...

T-minus 14 days

well here the time is almost here to go north. I am training replacements and slowly packing to leave. I am trying to be fair to all and not leave anything undone. Tomorrow I fly to Phili for the weekend to build a computer or two. Install a network Server and get all connected to the internet. This is the fun part. New Construction and a clean Setup before we get down to the hard stuff. One weekend = One week's pay. Sweet! Going to be cool as temps in the single digits for tomorrow, but I will welcome it. So in 14 days its for real.

Time to go...

I talked to the boss yesterday and gave him my exit date.  He wants to make an offer for me to stay, but does not think that he can match it.  So while one adventure ends, another one starts.  The feeling are sad, but yet exciting...  Not sure what to feel right now.  Okay a little scared as I head off to have a tooth extracted today.  Never had this done before and I am more then a little nervous about it.   Time to go....  in so many ways...

Philadelphia once again

Well I'm leaving once again for Phili on Sunday afternoon. So off I go into the wild blue yonder. I'll arrive 10:00 pm and be whisked off To a hotel. Wake up is 4:30 am. John & Dave arrive @ 6:00 am, and off in The Van for a 4 hour drive to a client site. Meet with The CEO, CIO & IT lead to iron out their needs & what can be done for them. Then a 4 hour drive back to Phili airport & back home by midnight. And if all goes well, I'll be coming home with a new Salary offer...

l8rs,

The Moleman

At the Dentist for the 3rd time

today I am the 3rd dentist these week. My broken tooth is causing all sorts of trouble including or holdup on telling my current employer that I am leaving in less than 30 days. If The quote is good is today, then I will have a meeting with the owner on Monday. It will be a hard meeting, as I have been there for 20 years and I am the only IT tech at the office. But the time has come to move on. So tommorow I'll tell the Boss that I am leaving. This will go over like a lead ballon I am sure...

The Time Has Come...

okay here's the quick version of the last 30 days.  The guys up north and I have been in discussions about duties and salary.  They flew me up again to Philadelphia on the 28th for a second interview and a trip out to a client's site about 4 hours drive away on the 29th and then back home.  They came to terms on insurance and vacation time and I have a great feeling that this is only through.  I have a temporary date in my head for my move north, but I am being held back by a broken tooth that will require an extraction and then a bridge and it needs to be done before I have a gap in dental insurance.  Timeline  for the tooth repair is 6-8 weeks and that is not acceptable to me at the moment, nor is the cost.  So I will be shopping the two parts around and seeing if A) I can get the price down, and B) get the timeline pushed up.  I need to get up north quickly.  I may need to fly up at least once of not twice before getting up there myself.  They need their network built.  So if all goes well I will still get to see a bit of winter when I get north.  And that's the short of it.
