you talkin' to me! Posted by Picasa

In a bush just outside a window all puffed up just trying to stay warm and out of the wind. Posted by Picasa

I got up early to a call from Bro Saxe telling me the meeting was canceled. Grab some bird seed and threw outside for the birds finding shelter in the pines and holly bushes around the front yard. Posted by Picasa

My Saturn after the wind whipped it at 45 MPH. Peeled all the snow off the bottom but left it 6-8 inched deep on the roof and hood. Posted by Picasa

Baby, it's cold outside! That right it reads 25 degrees. This is early Sunday morning. the storm rolled in late Saturday night and I went to bed with only raining falling and the power going in and out. Woke up to 10 inches of snow. Posted by Picasa

Winter Storm Watch... Finally!!!

It’s finally coming.  Winter’s coming for real.  I’ve had the snow shovel out and hidden behind a bush in the front yard for months.  Nothing is worse then having to clear snow by hand to open the shed to get the shovel. I have animal friendly salt at the ready (don’t laugh, the stuff works better then the real stuff and doesn’t make the birds that come to the feeder sick). I had a feeling that this storm might be for real as the birds have been at the feeder in mass for the last couple of days.  They seem to know that food will be hard to find soon.  I’ll be up early to clear the snow from the feeder on any morning that it’s covered.  Few things bring the joy that sitting by the fireplace with the blinds open, several inches of snow on the ground and the birds from everywhere chirping outside, and the cats in the windows watching it all like a good movie.  I’m sending Simmy out to stock up on a few things for the house, for that just in case the power goes out thing.  We are gas for heating, stove and water, so even if it does go out we just won’t have lights, cable… or computers!  Might have to break out the cards or board games.  Mostly likely jump in the car with a camera and head out taking pictures to send back to Florida.  The Subaru would handle it, unless the snow got packed hard enough that the tires didn’t touch the ground.

Here’s to the possible winter storm that I have been waiting for!!!

Moleman

MAJOR EAST COAST STORM WILL IMPACT THE REGION THIS WEEKEND.

THE NATL WEATHER SVC IN MOUNT HOLLY HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH.WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM SAT AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING.

AFTER TAKING ALMOST A TWO MONTH BREAK, WINTER WILL BE MAKING ITS RETURN WITH AVEANGENCE THIS WEEKEND.

LOW PRESSURE FORECAST TO DEVELOP OVER THE GULF COAST STATES LATER TODAY WILL MOVE NE TOWARD THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION BY SATURDAY. THE STORM IS EXPECTED TO REACH THE COAST LATE SATURDAY NEAR THE VA-NC BORDER. IT IS THEN FORECAST TO INTENSIFY AS IT MOVES UP THE COAST TO A POSITION JUST EAST OF CAPE COD SUN AFTERNOON. WITH PLENTY OF GULF & ATLANTIC MOISTURE AVAILABLE, THIS STORM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DEVELOP INTO A MAJOR NORTHEASTER. SNOW IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD INTO THE REGION AROUND MIDDAY SAT FROM THE SO. & SOUTHWEST. THE SNOW WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES DURING THE LATE AFTERNOON & EVENING HRS & CONTINUE WELL INTO THE NIGHT BEFORE TAPERING OFF TO LIGHT SNOW & FLURRIES TOWARD DAYBREAK. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OVER MUCH OF OUR FORECAST AREA ARE EXPECTED TO REACH 6 TO 12 INCHES.

USING THE AFOREMENTIONED TRACK FOR THIS STORM, THE AXIS OF THE HEAVIEST SNOW WOULD RUN FROM N. DE NE ACROSS PHILADELPHIA & TRENTON TO THE NY CITY AREA. ACCUMULATIONS IN THIS AREA ARE EXPECTED TO BE 8 TO AROUND 12 INCHES. IF THE STORM TRACKS FARTHER EAST, THE HEAVY SNOW WILL SHIFT TO THE EAST. IF IT TRACKS FARTHER WEST, CLOSER TO THE COAST, THE HEAVY SNOW WOULD SHIFT TO THE WEST.

WITH THIS TYPE OF AN EXPLOSIVE EAST COAST STORM, IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE TO GET CONVECTION, OR THUNDERSNOW, AT THE HEIGHT OF THE STORM. IF THIS OCCURS, SNOWFALL RATES COULD REACH 2 TO 3 INCHES AN HOUR. THIS WOULD CAUSE TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS TO EXCEED 12 INCHES.

THIS STORM WILL HAVE A MAJOR IMPACT ON OUR AREA SAT AFTERNOON INTO SUNDAY. IF YOU WILL BE TRAVELING THIS WEEKEND.PLEASE STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO.OR YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL SOURCE OF WEATHER INFORMATION FOR THE LATEST WARNINGS & STATEMENTS ON THIS WINTER STORM.

Geek TV Talk

Geek TV Talk:
I have found to my joy, that there are several TV shows running that provide entertainment to my liking.  The quick list that comes to mind contains:
Battlestar Galatica – a full featured Sci-Fi, must see each week
Stargate SG-1 – campy fun Sci-Fi, better since Ben Browder, formerly of Farscape,  has joined the cast.
Stargate Atlantis – some camp, more story
Surface – humor, light weight story
Invasion – X-files with a much lower suspense level.
Threshold – gone but not forgotten.  Good story line, to easy enough for the general public so was canceled
House – sideways thinking and medical.  My only other must see.  Even like the reruns.
Grey’s Anatomy – somewhere between ER and Scrubs.
24 – good story line, but just not what it was in the 1st season
Monk – good, simple whodunit with comedy, easy to watch
Numb3rs – Today’s FBI meets a mathematician.  Great to understand just how math can be applied to everyday life.  If this had been on when I was in school my grades would have been better in math.

Best of all for TV, my DVR.  Never am I glued to a schedule to see my shows.  TV when I want, if I want.
