Winter Storm Watch... Finally!!!

It’s finally coming.  Winter’s coming for real.  I’ve had the snow shovel out and hidden behind a bush in the front yard for months.  Nothing is worse then having to clear snow by hand to open the shed to get the shovel. I have animal friendly salt at the ready (don’t laugh, the stuff works better then the real stuff and doesn’t make the birds that come to the feeder sick). I had a feeling that this storm might be for real as the birds have been at the feeder in mass for the last couple of days.  They seem to know that food will be hard to find soon.  I’ll be up early to clear the snow from the feeder on any morning that it’s covered.  Few things bring the joy that sitting by the fireplace with the blinds open, several inches of snow on the ground and the birds from everywhere chirping outside, and the cats in the windows watching it all like a good movie.  I’m sending Simmy out to stock up on a few things for the house, for that just in case the power goes out thing.  We are gas for heating, stove and water, so even if it does go out we just won’t have lights, cable… or computers!  Might have to break out the cards or board games.  Mostly likely jump in the car with a camera and head out taking pictures to send back to Florida.  The Subaru would handle it, unless the snow got packed hard enough that the tires didn’t touch the ground.

Here’s to the possible winter storm that I have been waiting for!!!

Moleman

LOW PRESSURE FORECAST TO DEVELOP OVER THE GULF COAST STATES LATER TODAY WILL MOVE NE TOWARD THE MID-ATLANTIC REGION BY SATURDAY. THE STORM IS EXPECTED TO REACH THE COAST LATE SATURDAY NEAR THE VA-NC BORDER. IT IS THEN FORECAST TO INTENSIFY AS IT MOVES UP THE COAST TO A POSITION JUST EAST OF CAPE COD SUN AFTERNOON. WITH PLENTY OF GULF & ATLANTIC MOISTURE AVAILABLE, THIS STORM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DEVELOP INTO A MAJOR NORTHEASTER. USING THE AFOREMENTIONED TRACK FOR THIS STORM, THE AXIS OF THE HEAVIEST SNOW WOULD RUN FROM N. DE NE ACROSS PHILADELPHIA & TRENTON TO THE NY CITY AREA. WITH THIS TYPE OF AN EXPLOSIVE EAST COAST STORM, IT IS ALSO POSSIBLE TO GET CONVECTION, OR THUNDERSNOW, AT THE HEIGHT OF THE STORM. IF THIS OCCURS, SNOWFALL RATES COULD REACH 2 TO 3 INCHES AN HOUR. THIS WOULD CAUSE TOTAL ACCUMULATIONS TO EXCEED 12 INCHES.
